Day One at Campus Pride—awesome.
Today’s been full of some of my favorite conversations abt consent, sexuality, boundaries, queerity, polyamory, etc., etc.—ever. It’s fantastic being around people from my communities who *get* this stuff. I’m excited for campers to arrive, to do that leadership-education thing, but I’m also delighted to be building new relnships and revisiting old ones with such fantastic colleagues. I miss having my usual vast swathes of time to talk to the grrl, but am delighted to have a laptop and Google Chat for hir in the evenings. For *more* of favorite conversations XD
With, interestingly, a fair amount of anger, frustration, negativity included. Feels rly good to have LGBT folks with whom one can be real about these things.
In other news? This year we got teddy bears donated en masse, instead of books. For teaching team members and campers. I think it’s a pretty bangin’ idea. I can think of a couple other comfort objects that’d also be pretty great ideas. But these’ll do nicely, for now.
(…there are also a number of femme princess bears. Not so many one feels impelled to assume either that all the girlbears are femme, or that all the femme bears are girls, but still enough to offer some variety—will do my best to post a pic for the grrl and everybody else tomorrow :)
